Sundials

Garden of Time was created to commemorate 750 anniversary of foundation of Poznań. The Garden is a symbol of passing of time and at the same time a proof that our life’s rhythm is ruled by the Sun, just like 750 years ago. Garden of Time consists in 5 sundials, each of different design.
1. Classical sundial with horizontal dial, 65cm in diameter and a gnomon whose shadow shows the current time. The sundial shows the longest and shortest day of the year.
2. Analemmic sundial – uses observer as a hand to show the time.
3. Multiple sundial – shows time of several European capital cities
4. Ring dial – with 15-minute accuracy
5. Pre-Slavic dial – supposedly brings good luck to those who touch its “sun”.
The works on designing the sundials took Dorota and Andrzej Gosieniecki over a year. The young artists from Poznań superbly incorporated the dials into the infrastructure of our facilities to make them a great attraction for MALTA SKI visitors.
